WIDESCREEN

TV & Movie Format used for wide screen televisions (see Aspect Ratio). Also slang for SOFT EDGE BLENDING.

WHSXGA

Wide Hex Super eXtended Graphics Array - Standard computer format consisting of 6400 x 4096 pixels. The aspect ratio is 25:16.

WHUXGA

Wide Hex Ultra eXtended Graphics Array - Standard compuUter format consisting of 7680 x 4800 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:10.

WQSXGA

Wide Quad Super eXtended Graphics Array - Standard computer format consisting of 3200 x 2048 pixels. The aspect ratio is 25:16.

WQXGA

Wide Quad eXtended Graphics Array - Standard computer format consisting of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:10.

WSVGA

Widescreen Super Video Graphics Array - Standard computer format consisting of 964 x 544 or 1024 x 600 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:9.

WSXGA

Widescreen Super eXtended Graphics Array - Standard computer format consisting of 1440 x 900 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:10.

WSXGA+

Widescreen Super eXtended Graphics Array Plus- Standard computer format consisting of 1680 x 1050 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:10.

WVGA

Wide eXtended Graphics Array – Standard computer format consisting of 3 resolutions: 840 x 480, 848 x 480 and 854 x 480 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:9.

WXGA

Widescreen eXtended Graphics Array card - Standard computer format consisting of 1280 x 768 or 1280 x 800 pixels.

WUXGA+

Widescreen Ultra eXtended Graphics Array Plus- Standard computer format consisting of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:10.

X
XGA

eXtended Graphics Array. Introduced by IBM®, it is a standard computer format. XGA is non-interlaced and consists of 1024 x 768 pixels at about 35 kHz / 60 Hz. The aspect ratio is 4:3.

XGA.2

eXtended Graphics Array -2nd generation. Standard computer format consisting of 1024 x 768 pixels (at least 48 kHz / 60 Hz non-interlaced). The aspect ratio is 4:3.

XGA +

eXtended Graphics Array Plus – 3rd generation. Standard computer format consisting of 1152 x 864 pixels (at least 48 kHz / 60 Hz non-interlaced). The aspect ratio is 4:3.

XLR

It is a sturdy, industrial & music Audio connector (3 pins for XLR-3), for low levels balanced applications.

Y

Abbreviation for luminance (see Luminance).

YUV

see COMPONENT Video.

Y/C

Term used to describe the video signal with separate Luminance (Y) and modulated Chrominance©. Also called S.Video.
