Analog Way announced a new firmware release for Aquilon screen management systems, enabling extended-distance deployment between linked chassis over fiber, optimized 3G and 12G-SDI workflows with a new 8-plug SDI input card, and improved operational continuity with automatic source failover for multi-input backgrounds. The update also streamlines workflows with UX/UI improvements.

Long-distance link

Copper-based link solutions using ultra-high-frequency signals limit range due to signal integrity and attenuation, typically to a few meters.

Aquilon now supports long-distance links up to 500 m (1640 ft); whether units are installed in the same room on different racks or across distant premises. This capability relies on 40 Gb/s QSFP+ modules qualified by Analog Way, designed to support single-mode optical fiber with duplex LC connectors.

A new Link synchronization card replaces four RJ45 connectors with two SFP cages, supporting 1 Gbps SFP modules with copper RJ45 or single-mode duplex LC fiber interfaces, removing the 100 m (320 ft) limitation of copper-based solutions. The card also includes a second network control port for redundancy or dual control system [automation and Analog Way Remote Control Software (RCS) for example].

New versatile SDI input card

Many shows and installations still use 2K/HD video, while presentation systems are increasingly 4K/UHD native, leading to inefficient use of input bandwidth.

Aquilon now supports a new versatile 8-plug SDI input card, with four 12G-SDI and four 3G-SDI connectors. It supports up to eight 2K/HD inputs, four 4K/UHD inputs, or a mix depending on configuration.

Background set backup

In high-value environments, input failures must be addressed immediately, whether due to a disconnected cable or a media server failure.

Aquilon extends its input backup capabilities to background sets. If any input within a multi-input background set is lost, the entire background can switch to alternate background set, either manually or automatically. Manual control is available via the Web RCS interface, the RC400T controller, and third-party controllers.

Productivity and reliability

To support efficient setup and operation, Aquilon firmware version 6.1 introduces UI improvements, including easier layer management in the Web RCS viewers with an infinite canvas, along with bug fixes to enhance productivity and reliability.
